Going Green
Creating a lighter footprint

A partnership between the Spring Conference Planning Committee
and the Valley River Inn has resulted in the following opportunities
to create a lighter footprint for this Oregon Chapter APWA Conference.

Conserve electricity and water by re-using your sheets and towels
(as if you were at home!). 
Just follow the in-room instructions.

Recycle in the containers available outside your room in the foyer. 
 Instructions on Eugene’s commingle recycling is available
on the thumb drive that comes with your lanyard and conference brochure.

The flash drive you receive will have a wealth of information about the Eugene/Springfield area
from easy bus routes to restaurants and shopping – all information formerly handed out
in hard copy format including copies of the technical session presentation.

A walking tour of Delta Ponds will start just outside the doors of the Valley River Inn.

Travel to the walking tour of the Eugene 08 site at Hayward Field ,EmX bus rapid transit,
and east 18th Street will be done by transit on the Breeze .

Any excess food not served will go to the Eugene Mission. 
Food served but not eaten will be composted by Rexius .

The post conference survey will be done electronically using Survey Monkey. 
Look for an e-mail upon arriving back at your office after the conference.

Your name badge will include a barcode that will be scanned by exhibitors
when you visit their booths and at each technical session
to record your attendance for PDH/CEU documentation.

Car pooling matching services are being offered to delegates
traveling to the conference through Commuter Solutions.

The wine that you will enjoy at the banquet will come from
the Lorane Valley a short distance from the Valley River Inn

Eugene’s drinking water comes from the McKenzie River and has been rated number one
 in water quality in the nation.  No bottled water will be served. 
Cans and bottles from other drinks will be recycled.
